It is that time of year again when snow is possible. If we happen to get a significant amount of snow, please help us to help you if needed by clearing the snow from around the fire hydrant near your property. When minutes and seconds matter, it would be a big help to you local firefighters.

Advocates for the Volunteer Fire Departments address the County Council

On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, the County Council opened it's meeting with public comments, where they allow citizens to address the council on issues they have. Each citizen has up to three minutes to address the council. On this date, signed up to speak, on behalf of the volunteer fire departments of Prince Georges County was Pete Mellits. Pete wanted to give them a brief overview of the inadequate and insufficient way the Fire Chiefs office has devised to inappropriately withhold funds from some departments.. Also signed up to speak after Pete was Tanya Sweat of Accokeek, followed by Chief White of the Prince Georges County Fire/EMS Department. Chief White was there on behalf of the County Fire Chief, and was not speaking on behalf of, or in support of the volunteer corporations.
